AMAM Records boss and producer Alessio Mereu is back with his first EP of 2013, fittingly titled Resurgence. Following his recent contributions to Hand Out Chapter One (an AMAM mini-compilation) and Secret Weapons Vol. 1 (a compilation from Wow! Recordings, the label run by the folks from Amnesia Ibiza), Mereu offers a full statement in the form of three new glittering, steadfast tracks.
“Resurgence” is built on a framework of skittering percussion for those dancefloor moments in need of high energy, balanced out with long stretches of synths that stretch apart and fold around each other like freshly made taffy. Sure to sweeten up your set.
With “Elevent and Eleven”, Mereu shapeshifts into a darker, more menacing figure. This cut is meant to let out the aggression—rough and dirty techno penetrating through clouds of smoke.
“Headhunter” gracefully closes out the EP with a sort of sci-fi/tribal vibe, offering a mood that’s somehow both unsettling yet soothing—the kind of sophisticated contrast that’s become the specialty of Alessio and his fellow artists in the AMAM stable.
