As Greece becomes a destination on the map for fresh sounds in today’s house scene, Disobey Musiq shines forth as a beacon of praised Greek beats. Their latest release features work from two seasoned talents from the peninsula. Dj Stratos & Arara collaborate from combined backgrounds that deserve bragging rights. As Stratos is known for running 3 acclaimed imprints reaching high levels of support, Arara obtains respect through his productions releasing on impressive labels like Noir Music and Brise Records. What is formed out of this talent stew sounds a little something like 4 days weekend EP; a new school breed of deep tech that only the Greek’s can provide. With one crushing remix from Berlin’s based rising star Nikola Gala, you can expect to hear these beats dropping at a club near you.
A palpable taste of dark and steamy atmosphere crashes together and produces 3 days week, the opening lick of the EP. With lively hats and dark sinister bass and synth hits, 3 days week makes the dance floor an infectious mesh of easy groove and hard hitting deep house. One tension building drop after another brings samples of the highest degree with a bit of hip-hop flair to an otherwise tech gem. Acclaimed producer Nikola Gala lends a hand in the remix department, whipping up a familiar sound to coat 3 days week. Maintaining the darker and evil vibe of the original, Gala pours on his swift use of deeper bass and more distant groove with intelligent reverb. The title track of the EP rises from the darker sounds heard previously and relies on a funky optimistic flow of energy. Using similar samples from 3 days week, 4 days weekend is a more carefree lifting track with popping percussion and metallic melodies.
Useless wooden toys marches in time as the closing track. With a four-to-the-floor beat, its relentless hits of kick and bass are glued together with filtered rolls and snare hits. Another track for the opening DJ, Useless wooden toys won’t be so useless for crowds that expect carefree groove and swinging snaps of sophisticated mania. Following up their debut release from last April,Klaap’s Vers Le Haut EP, which featured talented remixers like Alex Celler, and Saytek, Disobey Musiq presents its annual treat with 4 days weekend. Now focusing again on stellar sounds and fresh talent, the imprint prepares to once again make its mark in club land.
