The vibrant, new label’s first born is one of pure blood, brought to life by way of immaculate conception by Alfa Romero themselves. Bank Holiday, the duo’s first outing since the highly acclaimed Sunday Bonds which saw inclusion in two separate compilations from both Pete Tong and Simon Dunmore, finds the pair in fine form once again. Like all the forthcoming releases on the imprint, Bank Holiday comes in a straight forward package containing just the original and one remix.
Bank Holiday is a laidback and melodic house strut. Full of emotion, the track is both reflective and highly personal. Subtle and dreamy melodies waft over soulful vocals, crisp beats and warm bass to create a lush soundscape full of depth and personality. Versatile enough to make equal sense at a party as it does at home in a comfy chair, Bank Holiday is another reminder of how skilled Prudo and Lorenzo Bartoletti are at infiltrating the subconscious and finding that sweet spot that satisfies the mind, body and soul all at once.
Much lauded Mexican producer Betoko supplies the remix for ARR001. Although he retains all the emotion and airy quality of the original, he strips things down more, allowing the addictive bassline to lead the way. A subtle rework that proves Betoko’s deft hand at remixing, the tune is a perfect complement to Alfa Romero’s original.
The promo video for the release was directed by Vito Di Rosa. It displays his usual stylish and cool demeanour, but also incorporates Alfa Romero’s sense of fun with an original 1970’s Alfa Romeo car endlessly circling a roundabout. What could be more appropriate than a vintage looping car?!
The eye-popping artwork on the release is provided by Massimo Pasca; the vibrant artist that has won wide acclaim with his stylish and improvised work. Surrounded by the music community in his every day life, the young artist is a master at creating dynamic scenes full of energy, life and interpretation.
A new label is born as Alfa Romero turn on the ignition and set off on their journey with a release to remember.
