Brunch -In the Park Barcelona is Here!
The event will be celebrated at Jardins de Joan Brossa every Sunday from June 26th to September 11th, with loads of electronic music, children activities and gastronomy
Barcelona, June 8th.- One more year, the Condal City welcomes a festival capable of reinventing itself, an event that is celebrated In the Park (Jardins de Joan Brossa) in summer and In the City (Poble Espanyol) in spring and autumn. This season, Brunch-In the Park offers a combination of gastronomy, music, market and activities in 12 new and refreshing dates, a perfect crossover of leisure and culture for adults but also for children. Every Sunday from June 26th to September 11th, Montjuïc will welcome international Djs such as Claptone and his show The Masquerade, Chicago house boss Derrick Carter, international tech house master Dubfire, the prolific Josh Wink and his Philadelphia house tech, British brand Hot Chip’s DJ set, minimal techno star Magda in a special Geist showcase, the genuine music lessons of BBC Radio Dj Pete Tong, Tale of Us’ pop and nu-disco influenced house and techno, and the Dj set of legendary French Dj Vitalic, who needs no introduction.
But these are not the only names of this first and juicy season of Brunch -In the Park. The bill also features other appealing names such as desert sound masters Bedouin or Benoit & Sergio fresh sound, who will share stage with Magda at the Geist showcase, as well as British Dj Hamid’s hip-hop-influenced house. Another key presence this summer is Flying Circus 10 Years, featuring Cassy’s warm techno soul, Audiofly’s dirty and roaring techno meeting electronic house, Martin Buttrich’s technical dexterity, Crosstown Rebel’s undisputed queen Francesca
Lombardo and Mexico’s deep house veteran Robbie Akbal. Another highlight is the Coyu’s label Suara’s tech house special, accompanied by Valencian Edu Imbernon’s internationally-renowned danceable electronic music and local hero Henry Saiz.
Finally, the showcase Will Saul presents 10 years of AUS will see the Dj and producer behind Simple Records and Aus Music alongside Paul Woolford, Canadian Jacques Greene’s romantic and divergent house and British deep house producer Leon Vynehall, on everyone’s lips as of late. Last but not least is the Tuskegee special with a yet unknown headliner and two confirmed names—Maher Daniel and Jade.
Other names on the bill are the legendary Dj T, the Smash TV duo, Darius, Jesse Rose’s irreverent house, the analogic yet no less vibrant live of Italians Agents of Time, Jenniffer Cardini’s elegant electronica, La Mverte’s disco-tinted synth-wave, Radio Slave’s infallible techno, Traumer and the internationally-known local Cora Novoa.
Brunch -In the Park doesn’t forget local talents and other smaller artists, promising names such as Djs Audio-In, Baldo, Bas Ibellini, Dj Zero, Kosmos b2b Ginebra, Isabella, Phuture Positive, Radiocontrol, Rave Jewish, SBRI, Shelby Grey, SPFZ b2b Mike Gannuand WM Band.
As a family-friendly event, one of Brunch -In the Park’s particular and differentiating strengths is the wide range of fun, unconventional activities for children. These are ideal for parents who wish to share their passion for electronic music with them in an accessible, welcoming and familiar environment. Brunch -In the Park offers a vibrant programme mixing entertainment and culture, a transversal approach that fosters children’s autonomy, assertiveness, critical ability and welcomed laughing fits! Petit Brunch’s aim is, above all, to put an end to boring Sundays and to have a great time with the whole family.
DJ ZERO and Raver Jewish will be in charge of providing the music for Petit Brunch, alternating Sundays from 1pm to 6pm. Among the activities programmed are Bouncy Castles, Water Slides, Climbing Walls and a Karts Circuit. Another objective is to involve children in housekeeping and develop their sense of social and ecological responsibility. For them to have fun while learning, Petit Brunch offers again this year the workshops Huertaliza, Yoguitos and Foodie Kids for gourmet lovers. And of course, there will also be Trampolines and Face Painters!
Brunch -In the Park Market
At Brunch -In the Park there will also be Markets. Culture and leisure blend in one of Barcelonians’ favourite activities: to search for clothes, for vintage pieces but also for those by the city’s new designers. Local names will have a special presence, including Pitágora Bcn, Luc at Lou, Makhoul, Frckless, Normal BCN, Neutral Bcn, Tiger Soul, Riot and Neutral, among others. To keep expectations high, brands will rotate so that the Market becomes a new experience in every edition.
Brunch -In the Park Menu
Brunch -In the Park lives up to its name by offering a full brunch menu with organic, local, fresh produce to recharge your energy before going dancing! At Jardins de Joan Brossa, a selection of food trucks will change every Sunday to serve a variety of delicious dishes you will want to publish on Instagram! A highlight is the Fruiteca food truck, with cold-pressed juices customized for the occasion. Want to learn more? Drop by the Jardins de Joan Brossa!
In line with the festival’s ecological and responsible stance, Brunch -In the Park will provide visitors with reusable EcoCups, now one of the festival’s emblems. EcoCups reduce waste generation by 80%.
Brunch -In the Park Barcelona goes social
Another strength of Brunch -In the Park Barcelona is its social side. The festival will give the proceeds of two dates to a good cause. On July 31st it will be the turn of Observatori Contra l’Homofòbia (http://observatori-contra-homofobia.blogspot.com.es/p/inici.html). On September 4th it will go to Bona Voluntat en Acció (https://bonavoluntatenaccio.wordpress.com/). The process is simple—before leaving the gardens, deposit your EcoCup in the stand created for the occasion so the money invested on the cup (1.5€) will be destined to a good cause instead of getting it back. There will be other initiatives to be confirmed soon that will help make money.
On Sundays from June 26th to September 11th, Bonus Track, organized by Nitsa Club and Brunch -In the Park, will offer more music at Nitsa with a bill featuring local artists and special guests coming from the Jardins de Joan Brossa. The special guests will be revealed on the same day! For those with energy enough to continue the party on Sunday, Brunch -In the Park offers the chance of doing so in one of Barcelona’s best clubs, just a few minutes away from Montjuïc.
