As one of the original pioneering forces in dubstep, Distance has unleashed a series of hard-hitting, no compromise singles over the last 7 years, and 2 highly acclaimed albums on the respected electronica imprint Planet Mu, ‘My Demons’ and more recently, ‘Repercussions’. 2011 saw Distance release a single with major label Island Records (‘Falling’) as well as delivering a precision mix for the esteemed Tempa ‘Dubstep All Stars’ DJ mix series. Taking a rare excursion away from releasing on his own excellent Chestplate Recordings, Tectonic is very happy to welcome Distance back for this fine release.
‘Reboot’ has been tearing up clubs over the latter part of 2011 – restrained but ruff-nek and most definitely ready for action. Chiming in with a riff that sounds like a demented modem being fed through a hungry distortion pedal, Distance builds the tension all the way to the drop… Then in comes the Distance subs – perfectly formed and totally powerful – charging the rhythm with a deadly purpose. Big support from Youngsta, Mala, Pinch and many more..
Flip then for the devastating ‘Bazurk’. Swinging into action with a chattering, wonky hi-hat line, this beast soon mutates into its full form, ripping the clothing from its chest and letting out a deafening metallic roar! Korn may well be experimenting with dubstep a-la-Skrillex, but ‘Bazurk’ makes their efforts sound like music for little girls who get scared easily.
