EINDHOVEN – THE NETHERLANDS – With names ranging from Netsky (live), Afrojack and Fedde Le Grand, to Jeff Mills, Tommy Trash and Oliver Koletzki dance festival Extrema Outdoor brings both world stars and underground heroes this year’s 19th edition, of which the full line-up has been announced today. ’XO’ takes place July 12 at recreational beach Aquabest in Eindhoven.
One of Extrema Outdoor’s main stages, the Diamond Stage, will feature many shows, performances and other sensations. Also music, the international top of Dutch electronic dance music can be found here, with the likes of Fedde Le Grand, Laidback Luke, Bakermat and of course Afrojack. The latter will release his debut album this May, with contributions by Wiz Khalifa and none other than Sting. The famous Nervo twins are also on the roster for the Diamond Stage.
The Return of Techno
This year’s edition sees the addition of three stages. By popular demand techno is back as a genre at XO, and the organization brings its A game. Detroit’s techno king Jeff ’The Wizard’ Mills will play an extended dj set and the techno stage will also feature long performances by the likes of Ben Sims and Len Faki. The second new area promises to be equally as exciting with warm house by Oliver Koletzki and Finnebassen, among others. Underground darling Levon Vincent will headline the “It’s Eindhoven” area.
The Quartz Arena showcases the innovative and creative character of the festival with much technological and visual spectacle. The live show by insanely popular Belgian wunderkind Netsky, an act exclusive to XO this summer, will no doubt be among the highlights of the stage. Also special will be the set by Baauer, mostly known for the Harlem Shake hype. For the first time he will bring a big production and impressive light show to the Netherlands.
Netsky and Baauer are in good company at ’the Quartz’, as they will be accompanied by Dillon Francis and Zeds Dead; this summer’s dance greats, together with Tommy Trash, who will be performing at the Crystal Stage.
After last year’s big success of the opening show, which the public’s smartphones were an integral part of by way of an app – a world premier – the opening show returns as an experience at XO 2014. It will be continued during the day with performances and shows across the festival grounds and capped off with a special closing show.
This 19th edition Extrema Outdoor continues to be the forerunner where set dressing, design and innovation are concerned. This is accomplished by working with artists and creative groups from the talented greater Eindhoven area, both international and local. Furthermore, together with this creative group the organization is tentatively looking forward to the anniversary edition of 2015, when Extrema Outdoor celebrates its 20th birthday. All information for this year’s edition, including the full line-up can be found at the festival’s website. Regular pre-sale has started, tickets are €49, XO Plus comfort tickets are €79.
