1. Coltrane (feat. Chris The Voice)
Ever since Format B turned in a stunning remix of Pleasurekraft’s “Skeleton Key” featuring Green Velvet, it was inevitable that the two acclaimed duos would work together some more. After a bouncing a few ideas back and forth over the internet, the wheels were set in motion for two special collaborations.
“Coltrane” is a deep, bass-driven house strut that packs a weighty punch. Deliciously simple but wildly infectious and intoxicating, the track casts its spell over you for nearly eight minutes.
A stabbing bassline provides the backbone of the tune along with rough beats and crisp hi-hats. Shimmering horns flip the production on its head before the bass kicks back in and rolls on with a ghetto-infused funk courtesy of the unmistakable vocals of Chris The Voice who Pleasurekraft immediately tapped for the project after first remixing his work on Eric Sneo’s “Shut Up & Dance.”
“Sexus” is a much darker affair, brought to life by a relentless baseline that snakes its way through the bottom end. Chopped up vocals, spacey electronics ultimately climax with elongated brass hooks – injecting tones of personality into a track that is already full of life. “Sexus” transmutes the visceral energy of the dancefloor into the carnal implications its title already implicitly suggests.
