Late July will see the release of Gianmaria Coccoluto’s ‘Spacing’ EP via Tete Records, comprising two original tracks and a remix from Simoncino.
Rome, Italy born producer Gianmaria Coccoluto is has been surrounded by electronic music for most of his life with his father being the established DJ and producer Claudio Coccoluto, he started playing records at the tender age of fourteen and now twenty years old has developed a striking ability for production as well. Here we see Gianmaria push the Tete Records imprint forward with its second release following its inaugural release back in June, also from Coccoluto himself, which saw support from Spencer Parker and Simoncino who now features on this follow up EP.
Opening up this three tracker is the original mix of title cut ‘Spacing’ which sees Gianmaria deliver a menacing slice or analogue techno, laid out over eight minutes with growling Moog bass drones, modulating synth blips and ever-evolving Roland 808 and 909 drum grooves. Following is ‘909 Delerium’ which as the name would suggest brings raw analogue rhythms to forefront, while swirling synth sweeps, muttering vocal chops and classic stab sequences subtly unfold around them.
On the latter half to close the release Quintessentials artist Simoncino reworks ‘Spacing’ and tips the focus over to a low-slung, dubbed-out aesthetic with expansive atmospherics, punchy drums lines and subtly unfolding resonant synth licks, shaping the package brilliantly.
