To kick off the New Year, Klockworks begins by adding a new name to its roster, Heiko Laux.
Heiko Laux has been a name synonymous to Berlin techno for years with his label Kanzleramt putting out club hits since the mid 90’s when techno was in the forefront of party culture in a new unified Berlin. As a fan over the years Ben has always tended to have one of Heiko’s timeless yet cult-like tracks in his bag, including for example ‘Hypnomarchin”, ‘Hangin’, and ‘Souldancer’.
Coincidentally when sat near each other on a flight not too long ago the two began exchanging stories and surprisingly Heiko had just come from a productive studio session where he had finished some fresh more stripped down, raw tracks. By the time the plane had landed, KW17 was born.
On the A-side ‘Savannah’ serves as a great introduction, opening the EP with swirling atmospheres to set the mood, reminiscent of extraterrestrial life. Nevertheless, ‘Dry Me (Acid Mix)’ takes off into a spellbinding ride with its unrefined sounds into the depths of acid, pulsating and intensifying as the track progresses. Conversely the original mix on the flip side dives into a deep, persistent, and undulating hypnosis.
Laux is another addition to the Klockworks catalog which is gradually expanding with new and experienced artists. A selection always synonymous to talent and emulative of the original Klockworks sound.
