Jack Dixon follows up his recent Hot Flush and Leftroom V/A contributions with ‘10997’ for Leftroom Ltd, a four track EP that sees the Berlin-based producer indulge his house leanings with gusto.

Leftroom Ltd is in fine form of late, with Waifs & Strays and Maceo Plex & Odd Parents seeing a huge wave of support from across the divisions of house sub-scenes and the latter’s Mark E remixes reaching even further. Dixon himself is not short of plaudits at the moment, having steadily built a reputation that has cemented true name-to-watch status via his fresh takes on the house, techno and soundsystem musical landscapes.

With ‘10997’, we’re treated to varying moods and tones. Opening cut, ‘Square’, is robust, tense and rolling gear but manages to be warm and hypnotic thanks to some dense layering and niftily applied dub aesthetics – peak time tackle without the histrionics.

‘Circle’ is dry, propellant and itchy throughout, with scattered snares and percussive fills puncturing the unfaltering groove in just the right places to create a peak time cut to rival it’s predecessor, albeit one cut from entirely different cloth and one that unleashes some aggressive depth in its latter stages.

‘Hexagon’ picks up the flow, combining many of the first two track’s tropes into an angular beat down that veers from frenetic to blissed out and back again throughout, before closing track ‘Ps Triangle’ delivers an unctuous, trippy and subtle closing shot that oozes class.
