The KDMS, the duo of electro soul diva Kathy Diamond and the young and talented producer Max Skiba release their debut album for Gomma; Kinky Dramas and Magic Stories on 30th April 2012. The album includes extremely rare remixes by Alexis Taylor from Hot Chip and Metro Areas’s Morgan Geist.

When the huge personalities that are Diamond and Skiba collided in London back in 2008 they felt an immediate creative connection and from here The KDMS were born. Skiba had been producing music for labels like Under the Shade, Skylax and Record Makers and Diamond had worked with Maurice Sulton (on Permanent Vacation), Aeroplane and Toby Tobias (on Rekids). The KDMS’s first track Never Stop Believing, was an early demonstration of the special energy that exists between Diamond and Skiba. Their demo was then passed on to a group of New York based DJ’s and Daniel Wang began playing The KDMS continuously at Santos club. From here word spread like wildfire and it wasn’t long before The KDMS were introduced to and signed with Gomma and their sound began to evolve as did their fan base.

Three singles later The KDMS have become a staple of some of the world’s most recognized DJ’s. From Soul Clap to Tim Sweeny, Tensnake to Hot Chip its seems that those in the musical know just can’t get enough of the their diva driven disco-pop. A firm favourite of Annie Mac, Kathy from The KDMS could also quite easily be described Disco’s answer to Adele.

Their debut album Kinky Dramas & Magic Stories establishes The KDMS at the heart of the ever-growing indie-disco-house movement. With this album The KDMS emerge with genre-defying personality, embracing an array of underground electronic styles with their uniquely deep, dirty but glamorous pop sound. Whilst propelling listeners into future disco, the album also reveals an affiliation with the past and an admiration for the likes of James Chance, Lil Louis, David Bowie, Quincy Jones and Chaka Khan.

The twelve tracks on the album are a journey through realms of synth infused funk, kick-drum led blissful disco, addictive melodies awash with hypnotic rhythms and deep baselines infused with seductive lyrics. Lead single Tonight, features on the album along with a remix by New York dance music icon Morgan Geist and the album also features guest appearances from Justus Koehncke (Kompakt) and Alexis Taylor of Hot Chip on a hypnotic alternative version of Wonderwoman.

With Kinky Dramas and Magic Stories, The KDMS have created a blueprint for a new wave of modern electronic pop music.

Kinky Dramas and Magic Stories is released 30th April 2012 on Gomma
