The word ‘legend’ is one that’s bandied around electronic music with increasing abandon these days, but one man definitely worthy of the title is New Jersey native Kerri Chandler. Chandler’s many diverse wares and organ-heavy take on house music has seen him enjoy a career renaissance of sorts recently – so much so that he’s earned a legion of new fans and an ever increasingly busy gig schedule in the process. Of course, the tunes that Kerri built his reputation on are still so formidable, and so it is that his 1996 classic, ”Hallelujah’‘, is given a new lease of life here, with the original re-issued on seminal house music label, King Street Sounds.

Both longstanding fans and newcomers to Kerri’s music are sure to be equally delighted that one of his most treasured records (under its most revered ‘Kaos Club Mix’ version) is being brought back to life. German duo Robosonic-themselves fine purveyors of electronic music’s contemporary methods-scrub up the original with some distinction on the flip, pimping it up to even more jacking and club friendly plan. An excellent, measured compliment to matters elsewhere-and a reworking that pays respectful homage to one of the most emphatic producers house music has ever known.
