Hi and welcome to the 5 shoot interview for differentgrooves.com !
1. Recently you get released on Christian Smith’s Tronic Records. How do you feel about that?
Yes I did release “Zia / Closer” on Tronic back in March. I am very happy to be back on his label because the last time I had a release on Tronic was back in 1999 and I have a lot of respect for Tronic. I play a lot of Tronic releases.

2. What are the most important steps in your career as producer and dj?
I have to admit that after almost 20 years of career things have changed. In the beginning the only thing that was important for me was to DJ. And after DJing all over the world for many many years, in the best clubs and the best festivals around, I can now say that I want to focus more on my Producer career. As a producer, it is important to understand I don’t just make techno. I have also produced pop albums, big remixes, music for TV and for videogames. I think a Producer should be able to produce different things. Otherwise what you think is called Producer should only be called Musician. I think that in the electronic music scene many people confuse the word Producer with Artist/Musician. Having said that, my first love will always be DJing. I love it dearly. But I don’t intend to travel 52 weeks a year like before.

3. Did the Montreal music scene affect your background or not? Not really.
My background was always shaped out of music that came straight from Europe.

4. Your release “Je Suis Charlie” will be published soon on Loose Records. What’s the concept behind these four tracks?
The only concept there is, is with Je Suis Charlie. When the sad events of Charlie Hebdo happened in Paris back in January, I made that track and in memory of the events. I lived in Paris for 4 years and what happened there made me really sad. It’s not more sad than any other terrorist attack, but in a way I was shocked that freedom of speach would be attacked that way. For me, that was a direct attack to all forms of art. Art is a form of speaking.

5. Is anything new forthcoming in the next months that you want to tell us about?
Yes, I have a new release lined-up on Tronic for the summer time. And as I’m making lots of music right now there will be quite a few releases from me this year.

Thank you for having spent the time to let our readers know more about your music and thoughts!
My pleasure.
