Artist: Paolo Rocco
Title: Cutz From The Vault EP
Cat. #: RUTI012
Release Date: 10-12-2016
November sees Montreal DJ & producer Paolo Rocco release the ‘Cutz From The Vault’ EP on Rutilance Recordings, featuring 4 immersive originals.
Run by Nicolas (DJ Steaw) and Gauthier (Gunnter), the Paris based Rutilance Recordings has welcomed the likes of Ortella, Jay Shaw and Paolo Macri since its launch in 2013. During its three-year tenure, the imprint has garnered a reputation for solid cuts of aesthetically pleasing house and techno, paving the way for an exciting collection of up & coming artists.
With releases on Get Physical, Saved Records and Real Tone Records to his name already, Paolo Rocco marks the label’s twelfth release with a distinctive style of dusty house.
First up, ‘True Lies’ is a weighty upfront house cut that features driving drum programming alongside detuned organ melodies and swelling atmospherics. ‘Circle Life’ then offers stripped back arrangements that are lifted by a lowly bouncing bass riff, maintaining momentum throughout the track’s duration.
‘Pacific Surf’ comes next, containing filter-swept chords and an effortlessly drawn out low end before ‘1994’ draws the ‘Cutz From The Vault’ EP to a close with crunching lo-fi percussion that’s propped up by spacious synth pads – all before it erupts into an animated 909 jam.
Paolo Rocco’s ‘Cutz From The Vault’ EP drops this November on Rutilance Recordings.
