Retsu is the newborn project of Matteo, a Milano-based electronic music producer. Guitar player from an early age, graduated in Science and Technology of Sound in his hometown, Matteo starts to tour Italy with his indie rock band.
Electronic music teacher and co-founder of a production studio in his hometown, he has worked as producer, composer and guitar player, moving through many shapes of music, including jazz, indie rock and pop to reach this point in his musical journey.
Retsu (meaning “line” in Japanese) is the artist’s metaphorical guise, representing a shift to a different, darker musical palette, infuenced by the myriad of shapes, colours and sounds he was exposed to on a weekly basis during his decade-long exploration of the European clubbing scene.
His music, as well as his dj set, resonate an always dark and oddly fresh sound, from old to new, and from all sounds deep, house and nu disco. A musical education that now bears fruit with some exceptionally creative tracks, as seen in his Soulfooled debut “Disclaimer Ep” on Alex Niggemann’s Soulfooled, making Retsu an artist to keep an eye on in the next future.
