Hawaii based producer Marasco here teams up with vocalist Gretchen Rhodes for a new single that comes complete with killer remixes from Derek Marin and Vigorito. So far releasing on labels like Surface and CityDeep, Marasco has proved himself an adept producer with a singular sound, and that continues on the new single for the always on-point Siesta records.
Hold It Like That in its original form is a deep and raw house track. The kicks are wavy and groovy and the percussive elements are used only sparingly. Above the chugging groove and knackered, grubby bassline the alluring vocals of Rhodes shine through as a small element of light in an otherwise dark track. The Back To The Roots version kicks that bit harder and bares the hallmarks of classic deep house complete with warm and golden chords that really heat things through.
Techno producer Derek Marin – who has performed and collaborated with some of the biggest artists in electronic music world like Andrew Fletcher of Depeche Mode, Mr. C, Terry Francis, Carl Craig – turns in a steely, stripped down remix full of outer space mystery, whilst Vigorito also turns in two remixes, one Red, one blue.
The first a lively, bristling brew of hi hats and clacking drums, building forever towards and intense high, while the other is a bit smoother, more streamlined and main room techno in its make up. It’s a fine package with something for everyone. Aloha!
