Diarmaid O Meara is a dj and producer very active in the techno scene, he has been released on popular labels such as Nachtstrom Schallplatten, Naked Lunch, Driving Forces Recordings and of course on his Gobsmacked Records.
After an appearance as remixer on Teja Records, with the 12″ “Take Over” he makes his great debut on the label, featuring four alternative and strong techno productions. This stuff has nothing to do with the old style of the artist, it’s noticeable an active research of new ways to interpret techno music, his album “In Your Head” is a prove of this and fortunately nobody stopped Diarmaid O Meara in this process.
The tracks of the A side show a conceptual and intelligent approach to sounds, since the beginning of the A1 titled “Dreams” it’s clear that this release is not the usual commercial kind of record; “My Mind” is interesting with its engine sounding bassline and the mesmerizing vocal sample.
On the flip the productions are much more energic, raw, rave inspired: the slow progression of the title track “Take Over” creates a high tension which gets muted after the drop, “Industry” closes the EP recalling the good old times of hard techno and revealing a very catchy sound.
