CITADEL… music intra muros (within the walls) is the theme of the next compilation EP from Derrick Thompson’s Soiree, where he once again calls on a host of global producers to join him on his Detroit label.

This time we’re taken on a journey into Deep House…

Setting the stage, Derrick first delivers a track under is Drivetrain alias. On ‘Dirty Work’, organically deep tribal rhythm is the bedrock for melodious chords and the cunning decrees spawned by Goddess Stephanie’s vocals.

Japanese-born, now Parisian, Motomitsu (Cracki Records) also makes a welcome return to Soiree with ‘November’, a dark and haunting symphony, built on an infrastructure rich in keyboards, chorusing under syncopated jabs and hypnotic pulsating motion.

Heading to Spain for the B-side, Troubled Kids Records head, Jesus Gonsev is first up with ‘Countdown’, an intelligent auditory marriage integrating the essence of an ante meridiem atmosphere with fathomless claviature and precision percussive penetration.

Seville producer Oscar Holgado now resides in Amsterdam but hasn’t lost his Spanish flavour. ‘The Wonderman’ is a sonic pilgrimage initiated with harmonic pad structure, advancing through walls of piercing string architecture and closing with a euphoric groove refrain.
