White Owl Records are a vinyl and digital label based in Brooklyn, USA and have a focus on live and machine-driven techno from its wonderful underground scene.

Conor Krane is one of the White Owl label owner’s and he steps up on his first appearance titled ‘It Melts Off My Bones’ to make his mark with four excellent original tracks.

Opening remix duty, Artem Velychko aka ARTM is also a Brooklyn-based artist originally from the Ukraine, who introduces his latest alias following some quality self-released works as Svavillya.

Second of the remixes welcomes back Carlos Aguilar aka Concrete Husband, an exciting artist who has a high pedigree from the world of classical music, has now found his home in techno. Not only a producer, he also an in demand DJ, playing regularly around NYC hotspots, and will soon be touring Europe.

“It Melts Off My Bones” has skittering percussion, hazy vocals, and swirling melodies over filtered kicks. “Side Eye” has an acid element as its main feature while haunting vocals add another dimension to its depth. “Wet Roof” has a bouncing groove in the form of a stabbing bassline, as metallic shimmers and abstract samples create a unique and twisted vibe. The last original, “Off Planet,” aims at a more hypnotic tone as its cavernous style and droning tones develop into a rare mix of dance floor energy and introspection.

ARTM turns things up a notch on his remix of the title track “It Melts Off My Bones” as a jackin’ spirit is met with quirky sound effects, tribal hits for a funky rework. Concrete Husband closes out the EP with a remix of “Off Planet” using a throbbing bassline and thundering kicks with detailed hi-hat sound design to strip things back in a superb new interpretation.

Katerina ‘One EP’

Artist: Katerina
Title: One EP
Label: Rekids
Cat. #: REKIDS236
Format: Digital, vinyl
Release Date: 08.03.2024
Tracklist:
A1 One
A2 One (Aleksi Perälä Remix)
B1 Papu
B2 Look Into My Eyes

 Buy link: https://orcd.co/rekids236

Finnish/Bulgarian music producer Katerina, who runs the labels Émotsiya and Kotarak, gets released on Radio Slave’s Rekids with the four tracker ‘One EP’. As overall the whole sound shares a carefree and late night vibe, while beams oldschool and analogic inspired synths. The drum patterns are carefully assembled with typical rhythms and sounds from drum machines, recalling to precious sound research and knowledge of the past. Sometimes the time seems suspended during the playback, a result which is difficult to achieve in these contemporary times, when thousands of meaningless tracks gets released each day.

This record was born out of the longing for emotional intimacy in a world of fast technology. There was a very natural flow to writing the music and the songs felt as if they wrote themselves. To be able to work with my all-time favourite Finnish artist, Aleksi Perälä, is a dream come true. Not only do I love his music, but his humane approach to life. We are one, and we shouldn’t forget that. It’s important to stop and be present not only for others but for yourself and the universe too.” – Katerina

THRPY001 - Artwork

Carla Durisch ‘Moist’

Artist: Carla Durisch
Title: Moist
Label: THRPY
Cat. #: THRPY001
Format: Digital
Release Date: 15.03.2024
Tracklist:
1. Moist

Buy link: https://lostart.co/carla_durisch_moist.ZNS

Carla Durisch launches her new record label THRPY with debut track “Moist” dropping on the 15th of March. The label will be an outlet for the artist to explore the raw edges of house & techno.

Living in Zurich, Carla is an exciting DJ and producer whose style, despite diving deep, is full of energy and a knowing sense of humour.

2023 was a big year for Durisch who played over 90 shows that included Ibiza, Berlin, Miami, Dubai, Bali; her native Switzerland, alongside other parts of the world.

Her debut EP, ‘I Just Wanna Dance,’ came out via Damian Lazarus’ Crosstown Rebels, and featured a remix by the legendary Seth Troxler. Any producer whose first release comes via record labels such as Crosstown is destined for big things.

THRPY is the next chapter in Carla’s evolution as an artist, and the record label’s title is a play on the word ‘Therapy’ which is her go to remedy; a cathartic passion for sound that provides an escape from the daily grind.

Not only is THRPY a record label, but it’s also an events, merchandise and fashion brand that’ll include upcycling and a focus on FLINTA+ talent, subjects that Carla is particularly passionate about. Speaking in her own words, “Music, dancing, and clubbing have always been my lifelong therapeutic companions. Club culture, like no other art form, creates a unique haven where individuals of diverse backgrounds, generations, unconventional lifestyles, and orientations can find their own space of freedom.”

“Moist,” the first release on THRPY, is a track with tense synths and smouldering vocals. Its raw percussion and swelling pads are underpinned by an acid bassline, and its analogue groove has hints of Detroit-inspired electro.
