Artist: Parcel Title: Airing EP Label: Position Obscure Recordings Cat. #: POR001 Release Date: April 2nd 2020 Tracklist: 1. Airing 2. Eurotan
Debuting on Position Obscure Recordings, Parcel’s ‘Airing’ EP explores motifs of isolation and symmetry, layered over systematic hypnotic rhythms. Parcel explores the relationship between melody and spatial awareness on side 1 “Airing”, while side 2 “Erutan” lends an alternative shade of analysis; furthering Parcel’s deep exploration into sound design in relation to environment.

Artists: Joyce Muniz, Demetrius Title: What’s Your Name Label: Poker Flat Recordings Cat: PFR228 Format: Digital Release Date: April 3rd 2020 Tracklist: 01. Original Mix 02. Instrumental
Joyce Muniz meets Demetrius for the making of ‘What’s Your Name’, forthcoming in the next days on Steve Bug’s Poker Flat Recordings. They melt a tech house drum loop with a rolling bassline and a minimal chord line, and to the end they put over the malevolous vocals of Demetrius. The final result is a track that sprays a malicious and solid vibe. The release package features the original mix and the instrumental version.
Artist: Dubspeeka Title: County Lines Label: Korpus 9 Cat: k9009 Format: Digital Release Date: May 5th 2020 Tracklist: 01. County Lines (Original Mix) 02. County Lines (Robert S (PT) Remix) 03. County Lines (Drumcomplex 2AM Remix) 04. County Lines (Drumcomplex 6AM Remix) 05. 0.0455 (Original Mix)
After many big apparitions on nice labels such as Drumcode, Last Night On Earth, Odd Even, Dubspeeka gets released on the underground label Korpus 9 with ‘low-key profile’ songs. The title track shows a good charm, with a muddy and dark sound where some clear synths and hihats bring a sparkle of light. Drumcomplex and Robert S appear as remixers: notable to mention the Portoguese Robert S because he goes hard with his remix, in that unique way he interprets techno music. Finally closing track titled ‘0.0455’ is another introspective piece with a glimpse of mainstream influences.
Artist: Davide Nigro Title: Molecular Alchemy EP Label: Motech Cat. #: MT133 Format: Digital Download / Streaming Release Date: 17 April 2020 Tracklist: 1. Cosmic Geisha 2. Molecular Alchemy 3. Panoramic Life 4. Anarchy Sound System
Detroit techno label Motech Records’ second release of 2020 sees another debutant producer added to their more than impressive catalogue. This time the beats are supplied by Italian producer, Davide Nigro.
With a number of releases on various techno imprints in 2019, Nigro, (who cites techno’s Baron, Dave Clarke as a life changing influence after seeing him perform at the age of 15), is ready to explode in 2020 starting with the release of ‘Molecular Alchemy EP’ [MT133].
‘Cosmic Geisha’ opens the EP with a driving, pulsing rolling baseline, manic hi-hats and a groove that resonates energy from start to finish. The EP title track, ‘Molecular Alchemy’ follows, which Nigro describes as “crazy funky soul”. Expect a lo-fi aggressive, distorted synth lead; dirty funky Detroit techno at its best.
Track three, ‘Panoramic Life’ leads you into twisted airy suspense through spatial modulation, with dreamy interchanging rhythms and layers of beautifully sculpted sonic textures. Nigro adds: “welcome to the uncontaminated space of sound.” ‘Anarchy Sound System’ rounds off the EP, thumping into action with a pulsating reverberating sub-kick that’s dark and minimal, transcending with a lush morphing and filtered analogue acid lead that takes you into new sonic dimensions. Nigro says: “this is diabolic acid, pervading your senses up to the maximum exasperation that coincides with the utopian moment.” In simpler terms: a track made for the darkest contorted dance floors – mind-blowing music from start to finish!
Artist: Ilario Liburni Title: I Feel Everything Remixer: Melchior Productions, Rhadoo Label: Invade Records Cat. #: INV018 Format: Vinyl & Digital Release Date: 1st May 2020 Tracklist:
I Feel Everything (Original Mix)
I Feel Everything (Melchior Productions Rio De Janeiro Mix)
I Feel Everything (Rhadoo Remix)
Ilario Liburni serves up some classy reductionist house sounds on his own Invade Records, while remixes come from heavyweights Rhadoo and Melchior Productions.
Belgium based producer, Ilario Liburni knows how to get maximum feeling and atmosphere out of his sounds. His prolific and always on point output since 2012 has proved that releasing on labels such as Cardinal, Memoria and his Invade Records imprint.
The superb original single, ‘I Feel Everything’ is perfectly distilled minimal house, with dubbed-out drums rolling through enveloping sub-bass. Wistful synths are buried deep in the mix, and neon chords and woozy pads add a sense of late-night colour and cool to the groove.
First to remix is cult favourite Melchior Productions, who has put out several essential releases on Perlon and Playhouse and very much defined his own minimal aesthetic. His version is airy, hypnotic, and supremely smooth with the drum loops and spoken words wrapping around each other in perfect harmony.
Master Romanian minimalist Rhadoo has long been a critically acclaimed sonic craftsman. His remix is filled with glistening hi-hats and singing bass that bounds about beneath sustained and melancholic chords. It’s roomy and atmospheric and sure to go down a storm with the connoisseurs.
Artist: Bedouin Title : Whistleman EP Remixer: Pablo Fierro Label: Human By Default Cat. #: HBD001 Format: Vinyl & Digital Release Date: 27 th March 2020 Tracklist: A1. Whistleman (Original Mix) B1. Firefly (Original Mix) B2. Voodoo (Original Mix) DIGITAL BONUS – Whistleman (Pablo Fierro Remix)
Brooklyn-based duo Bedouin launch their Human By Default imprint with a silky release entitled ‘Whistleman EP’ featuring a remix from Pablo Fierro.
Tamer Malki & Rami Abousabe formed as Bedouin in 2012 and have since established themselves as two of the most vital names in melodic house music. As producers their mesmerising instrument-driven cuts have arrived on top tier labels like Crosstown Rebels, All Day I Dream and Supernature. Meanwhile, as performers they continue to headline clubs and play at festivals across the globe, such as sets at the legendary Burning Man, Coachella, Extrema Outdoor Belgium, III Points, Kappa Futur Festival and Tomorrowland, while helming their own Ibiza residency at Pacha named SAGA, getting ready for their 4th season, which has gone on to become a renowned worldwide event series.
Human By Default is their highly anticipated label which the pair now launch with three of their own original cuts. ‘Whistleman’ opens with smooth keys, shimmering percussion, a warming bassline and gorgeously delicate vocals that send the senses into aural bliss.
‘Firefly’ swings with marimba samples, churning shakers and bubbly synth patterns until ‘Voodoo’ rumbles with Afro-Cuban drums, exciting vocal work, Santur like pads and rolling electric stabs. Finally, multifaceted musician and producer Pablo Fierro provides his signature rhythm and shuffle to the ‘Whistleman’ original with claves, rattling snares and a euphorically charged break.
Celebrating the launch of Human By Default, Bedouin will perform alongside special guests during Miami Music Week with a showcase at The Beach Club on 19th March.
Artist: Various Tracks by: Rebekah, Slam, Sleeparchive and more Title: Visions 01 – Cleric Label: Clergy Cat. #: CRG020 Release Date: 10.04.2020
To celebrate hitting their 20th release, Cleric’s imprint pulls together 23 talents for an essential various artist compilation including tracks from the likes of Rebekah, Cleric, Stef Mendesidis, Remco Beekwilder & Stranger, Endlec, Kwartz, Setaoc Mass, Roman Poncet, Slam and many more.
Clergy has become synonymous with a balance of atmospheric and hard hitting brand of techno ever since 2014. The boss’s own music has been key to that, with carefully curated releases from guests such as Dax J, Kwartz, Reflec and Cleric himself. Helping to make the label an underground favourite. ‘Clergy Visions 01’ sees Cleric invite an array on techno heavyweights to contribute to this compilation that’s mixed by the label boss himself.
Things open up with the bleak ambience and fizzing electric cables of Jokasti & Nek’s ‘Grained’ then Sept’s ‘Artifical’ lays down a tunnelling techno groove that immediately locks you in. The mysterious alias, Reizemann heads off to a cosmic realm with its deep space pads slowly building the momentum throughout the drums. The energy levels then stay high throughout tracks from Roman Poncet, Kwartz and Setaoc Mass, then leading onto the groove of Stef Mendesidis.
Testament to Cleric’s skills as a DJ and sequencer is the fact this journey is constantly evolving while remaining coherent. A mid- section featuring the likes of Endlec, Sleeparchive and EAS keeps you on your toes with perfectly stripped back but hard dynamic drum programming and intense melody work. Remco Beekwilder & Stranger bring a more hard hitting and industrial style before Slam calm the fires once more allowing you to sink into a smooth, elongated roller. It’s left to the dystopian darkness of Rebekah and atmospheric techno brilliance of Lerias to close out this most adventurous mix in real style.
Artist: Luuk van Dijk Title: Da Revolution Remixer: Toman Label: No Art Cat. #: NOART028 Format: Digital Release Date: 30th March 2020 Tracklist
Da Revolution
Moved By Me
Moved By Me (Toman Remix)
Luuk van Dijk returns to ANOTR’s No Art imprint to deliver his ‘Da Revolution’ EP, accompanied by a remix from fellow Dutch favourite Toman.
Blossoming Amsterdam-based DJ and producer Luuk van Dijk has been gaining a rising-reputation via his infectious underground productions over the past few years, with releases to date via the likes of Solid Grooves, Eastenderz, Oblack, Do Not Sleep and Hot Creations to name just a few. As an artist, his energetic and slick sets combined with his own original material have seen him named as ‘an artist to watch’ by Hot Since 82, whilst also being tipped by industry heavyweights including Steve Lawler, Hector Couto and Eats Everything, and March now sees him make a welcome return to No Art as he delivers his ‘Da Revolution’ EP, backed by a remix from Toman.
Title track ‘Da Revolution’ is a driving and raw cut guided by skipping hats, spiralling synths and infectious vocal snippets throughout, whilst ‘Moved By Me’ harnesses garage-tinged percussion, shuffling snares and driving low- end tones to impressive effect. To close, Toman’s remix of ‘Moved By Me’ sees the introduction of a bouncing bassline, icy hats and a snaking bassline to offer up a heads down, hands up closer, and in turn conclude yet another quality release from the No Art crew.
