Dave Angel Returns To R&S Records With ‘A Time And Place’

Dave Angel has released ‘A Time And Place’, his latest full-length album and a return to R&S Records, the Belgian label with which he has been associated for more than three decades.

The 15-track record covers a broad range of musical territory, combining electronic production with Jazz, Soul, live instrumentation and improvisation. Among the guest musicians are trumpeter Steve Waterman, vocalist Robert Owens, guitarist Merv Carswell and Aurii Sky.

‘A Time And Place’ draws reference from different areas of Dave’s life and musical background. Several tracks relate to family and his grandchildren, while others draw on landscapes, wildlife and time spent in different surroundings. His experiences within club culture also feature, with references to the 1988 rave movement and the listening sessions that developed around the UK’s club scene during the 1990s.

The record also includes the previously released ‘Réflexion’ featuring Steve Waterman and ‘Apocalypse’, which takes a more observational approach to subjects including global events, humanity and the environment.

Other highlights include ‘Glitterati’, ‘Ride On A Magic Carpet’, ‘The Yellow Butterfly’ featuring Steve Waterman, ‘Harmony Serenade’ featuring Robert Owens and ‘Sprinkles From Above’ featuring Merv Carswell. The album concludes with ‘FTOG’s’, an abbreviation of ‘For The OGs’, which acknowledges the Jazz musicians and early influences that were part of Dave’s introduction to music.

‘A Time And Place’ is a record that connects Dave Angel’s early musical influences with his experiences across music and culture. ‘A Time And Place’ is out now and can be purchased here.
