Over the past 8 years, Belfast born AVA (Audio Visual Arts) Festival has grown to be one of the most important events in the UK & Ireland cultural calendar, amplifying the powerful creative movement brewing in Belfast and beyond. New additions to the musical programme include Partiboi69, Sally C, Skin On Skin & fast emerging duo Piri & Tommy. The team also invite some of of the UK & Ireland’s most talented Visual Artists to the core of their programming; highlighting the developing audiovisual arts movement – including Black Box Echo (Bicep) featured image, Gray for Days (Ross From Friends), Dan Tombs (Jon Hopkins), Algorithm, Visual Spectrum, Wee Nuls and more.

Partiboi69 will join the programme for AVA Festival 2022. Described as “symbol of mutual love and mystery of the Australian underground,” his high-nrg interactive show will be perfectly at home with a Belfast crowd. Hometown hero Sally C will return to AVA after an incendiary b2b DJ set with Cromby in 2021, enigmatic artist Skin On Skin will also join the DJ programme for his Belfast debut – bringing his mix of smoked-out techno and 909 classic house straight to your brain. More live acts come in the form of London-based duo Piri & Tommy will also make their Belfast debut. Their second song ‘Soft Spot’ dropped in the summer of 2021 and exploded onto TikTok reaching #1 on the UK chart.

The Visual Artists will work hand-in-hand with the AVA production team, plus specific artists on the lineup to create bespoke visual shows that will immerse and transfix AVA’s thousands of party people. A few to highlight include Gray for Days aka Geraint Morgan, whose visual show is inspired by plant cells and their growth journey; analyzing moments of beauty within this process. Also involved is Black Box Echo, the man behind BICEP’s prolific live visual shows which have travelled far and wide across the world. Together, they’ve worked on projects together including stage shows, music videos, and acclaimed live stream films.

‘Everywhere I go in the world with Bicep there always seems to be a little pocket of Belfast natives in the crowd bringing that unique energy, so Bicep shows in Belfast are always extra special. The atmosphere is so electric that we always feel hyped to pull out all the stops on these occasions. Performing this show outdoors in Belfast for the first time will be especially exciting.’ – Black Box Echo, aka  Zak Norman.

Also representing audiovisual talent is Dan Tombs, who has worked with the likes of Jon Hopkins, Gold Panda, and Midland, and performed at prestigious arts events such as MIRA, Barcelona. The Dublin-based Design Studio Algorithm will transfix you through their AV show, and will join Belfast-based Artist Oisin O’Brien, who runs Visual Spectrum on this steller Visual Artist lineup.   The AVA visual arts programming will also include multidisciplinary artist Wee Nuls, the revered Belfast-based artist who has been involved with AVA Festival since its humble beginnings.

Working together with the AVA team and artists playing, these names will be responsible for crafting unforgettable experiences for the AVA crowd. As always, AVA Festival will welcome a roster of internationally esteemed names such as Jon Hopkins, Mura Masa, Floorplan, VTSS and Irish acts flying the flag as the finest talent in the country. BIIG PIIG, Kessler, Swoose, Holly Lester, ELLLL and more will all be on board for 2022’s edition.
