After a three years hiatus the Rotary Cocktail imprint returns to the scene with a brand new record signed by youANDme. His ‘Swell | Repeat’ EP is an ode to the Evans Super Echo ES-5, a vintage analog tape delay largely used during the production stage of the title track. In the overall the temperature is warm but shares a melancholic vibe: the artist is still mulling over the infinite possibilities to combine sonorous parts such as drums, synths, effects and so on. Follows on the A side a remix by Renato Ratier that goes deep and underground; there the usage of a tiny bassline adds a minimal vibe to his revisitation, a factor that enhances the original mix sound parts. On the flip Kenny Larkin takes over the control, offering another intriguing and sensational vision of ‘Swell | Repeat’: the stems are enriched with an abundant use of delay, pattern sequences and probably a mixdown technique with limiters that increase the tension during the playback.
